Subject: Bosnian Elections - NEWS!
Dear friends,
today, our local center for refugees received a fax from LIRS,
which received that fax from InterAction, wherein it is stated
that League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF) were
accredited from OSCE and DOS to implement the registration
program related to the absentee voting in the USA. The most
important information in the fax is: "...Citizens of Bosnia and
Herzegovina who are eligible to vote in the September elections
should call the LWVEF immediatel to apply for an absentee
ballot.
The toll-free number is 1-800-92-BOSNA
The deadline for applying for a ballot is July 31, 1996.
Potential voters will be asked to provide their:
-full name
-identity number
-address in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and
-current address in the United States, and
-date of birth.
The registration officer will complete an application form over
the telephone and forward it to the applicant for signature. The
applicant will provide a photocopy of proof of identity, sign the
form and return it to the LWVEF..." Although there is some
information in the fax which is contradictory to information
published at OSCE web site, this can be usefull and I wont to ask
you to distribute this quotation through your nets. So far, I
haven't found anything about this LWVEF action at LWVEF web
site!?
Thank you very much.
Sincerely
Zoran
