I am trying to discover if there are any organizations (local or international)
who are using art as a bridge to peace between the peoples of the former
Yugoslavia.
Some friends of mine and I have been thinking about a project that would
involve the
use of art to bring children together from Muslin, Serb and Croat families.
You may be familiar with "penpals" from your elementary school days
where you exchanges
messages with someone in another part of the country or world. Being a
penpal opened up
a whole new world and undertanding of different cultures, dreams and problems.
We are wondering if there is any interest in using art to exchange
feelings, thoughts and
hopes between the children of Bosnia, Croatia an Serbia -- or within any
community within
the country? Our hope is to find an organization that may already be
conducting a program like this in order to further peace through the
expression of art.
If you have any knowledge of such a program or organization, please write to
at: ksmith@efn.org
Thank you.
