All persons 18 or older listed in the 1991 census for Bosnia-Herzegovina are
eligible to vote in the upcoming, but the campaign to register the U.S.
qualified has not reached deep enough into the Bosnian communities. All
persons with friends, workmates or acquintences (many are not on-line) must
be alerted that the League of Women Votes has announced an extension of the
registration deadline to August 5. They can be reached at 1-800-BOSNA
(1-800-922-6762) or at 202/429-1965 xt. 242, 266. Information can be faxed
202/463-3692.
Alert your communities that the process is simple. To register to vote,
Bosnian citizens should provide:
full name
date of birth
identification number
address and municipality in Bosnia in 1991
current address in the U.S.
current telephone
All information will be held strictly confidential. The League of Women
Voters will NOT release names, addresses or other personal data to the
government of BiH, the OSCE, or the government of the United States.
Moreover, the status of the voters as refugees or displaced persons in the
U.S. will not be jeopardized by voting in this election.
