WAR CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN aka CALLING THE GHOSTS
A story about rape, war and women is scheduled to be released at June
25, 1996 for the International Human Rights Watch Film Festival at
Walter Reade Theater in New York City.
The story is of Jadranka Cigelj and Nusreta Sivac, childhood
friends and legal professionals, who lived lives of "ordinary
modern women" in Bosnia, until their neighbors raped and tortured
them in a concentration camp.
Fillmmakers Mandy Jacobson and Karmen Jelincic are recipients of
Nestor Almendros Award for their contribution to Human Rights as
filmmakers.
The film still needs $ 50K to ensure completion. For more

Film is narrated by Julia Ormond. At the beginning filmmakers would
like to say in four sentences why the war in Balkans started, and why
it turned to be so ugly. The filmmakers are inclined not to believe
in a "thousand years of ethnic tribal conflict" story. They are
seeking more honest words of explanation.
They asked me to place their quest on Internet:
*** please, think of how would you in four short sentences summarize
the war in Balkans. If you come up with some idea, please forward it
to my e-mail address: iskoric@igc.apc.org
A person whose 4 sentences are going to be used in the film will be
given credit and a prior notification.
