I do not understand the passions involved here but there must be another
solution to war. The killing of people for political or geographic gains
must never be accepted by any nation. We feel the pain anywhere in the
world where people are dying for any reason. This may seem too idealistic
but that is the way I feel. When "Hell" is in session, we all lose.

I'm a student at New Canaan High School, in New Canaan, Connecticut, U.S.A.
I'm doing a paper for school and I need some information on the situation
in Bosnia.
I would also like to have a better idea of what is going on.
I would like to become involved, so I can understand the events which are
happening better.

This one is really amusing. But it is quite possible. Americans when
they commit themselves to action are able to do this. I don't think
the U.S. in this case supports Bosnian Muslims because of Arab
nations. It is just that happened that way and now since the U.S.
committed troops to preserve "multi-ethnic" Bosnia - sought primarily
by the Muslim faction, the U.S. is determined to keep the image of
their, not always worthy, allies (Bosnian Muslims and Croats) clean
in the press. Serbs, on the other hand, are bad guys anyway and they
accepted the role. It is not even news if there is Serbian mortar
crater found. There are so many of them. This, however, is a security
leak, something that Americans always have, because it is difficult
to promote the freedom of the speech and trying to keep secrets
secret at the same time. Where did you get this information?

I happen to be polish and my boss is Serbian, We both consider ourselves
Slavic, albeit,
from the general region in and about western Russia, Eastern Europe, I
find it hard to
beleive that ALL the atrocities commited have been done solely by the
Serbs (a Slavic race)
I read an article in a newspaper recently that states one of the U.N.
Soldiers had
examined a morter crater and determined it had come from a nearby Croation
camp, yet the
commander an american, ordered him to put down in his report that it had
been fired by
the Serbians instead, the following week this was used as an excuse for us
(that is the
United States, no pun intended), to bomb the Serbians.
Are we siding with the muslim faction simply because we dont want to
offend the
arab nations that now supply over sixty percent of our oil ?.

This is true only in democratic regimes. In dictatorships, like in
kingdoms earlier in human history, a personal cult of a leader is
sometimes even more important then whole of the rest of the state
apparatus. Remember Louis XIV? "The state, that's me."

So, it is true that you were Serbian-sided ONLY BECAUSE of the
position of American media on Serbs. Whatever somebody who is opposed
by Americans do, he is right, isn't he? I apologize for my lack of
knowledge of American left earlier in the century, but I would like
to know when the Workers World was founded and how it would respond
to American imperialist interventions against (national)-socialist
Germany and Japan in the second world war?
