First Training in Peace-building
Pakrac, Croatia

PRELIMINARY REPORT
Abstract:
During the last week of October, in Pakrac, Western Slavonia, a training
course was held covering different aspects and skills connected with peace
building. Eleven participants from Croatia & BiH, together with eighteen
workshop leaders, trainers and lecturers worked on non-violence, peace,
communication and civil society issues from 9 a.m to 10 p.m. for five
days. Initial responses from trainers and participants suggest that the
course was a success (participants average rating was 4.54 out of a
possible 5). The organisors feel empowered to continue with further
training in the near future.

ACCOMODATION
Privately - at local people's houses.
FOOD
One hot meal was arranged four days a week (Thursday morning was free on
the programme) after morning workshop at Info Center.
MISCELLANOUS:
- Press release was sent to 14 different local and international news
agencies
- Youth Programme of Austrian National Radio interviewed a few participants
- UNHCR Zagreb expressed wish in future to support such Training
- Editor of local newspaper "Pakracki List" expressed dissatisfaction
about lack of local people in Training organization and
programme.Announced and agreed to cooperate in organizing next
training.
