Thanks Ivo, for your posting, bringing in a variety of society's ills into
the Bosnia debate.
I can relate so well to your positions. Witnessing this Balkan War, the
Serbian aggression, the ethnic hatred and bigotry which indeed is on all
sides, I've found myself for the last two years seeing the whole world
through a new perspecitive. The war against civilians in Bosnia, in
particular, has stunned me into new realizations about the abject failure of
our western society. Women's issues, the inadequacies of the media
industries, economic issues, religious and politicial institutions all seem
out of focus, out of integrity.
It has been an unpleasant two years. It's difficult to enjoy the many
wonderful things in my life while my mind is so sensiteive to the massive
global disfunction. It's hard to face how bad things have become -- I'm
forty years old and I naively thought that things would get better. I now
see that we have a huge task of reform ahead, and it won't be easy or
comfortable. I am grateful for one thing... that shift in consciousness that
has linked so many people who had never been together before. I attended
both the ACSB Washington conferences, and I was surprised to see the most
varied group of individuals, all parties, ages, religions and so forth. This
is mandatory, to be able to work with people who have different upbringing.
The NATO raids last night were long overdue. Alan Fogelquist, Dr. Albert
Wolhstetter, Marshall Harris and so many others have been saying for years
that the all the evidence showed the Chetnik Serbs would only respond to
force. Unfortunately, CNN, NBC, CBS, Reuters and others choose not to listen
to these experts. Rather, we've been forcefed the inhumane analysis from
Larry Eagleberger and other "free consultants" who happen to be in
Washington, available at a moments notice, or the week's catastrophy. As a
result, the American people have been misled and confused, perhaps as much as
the civilian Serbs who have also been the victims of a disinformation
campaign of fear and hysteria.
NATO can't do this in a policy vacumn. They 'allies' have to go to the
source of this conflict, and that is Serbia.

Nalini Lasiewicz
P.S. Good idea there, not to vote to Pete Wilson. I can tell you honestly
that in the many years I've lived here, California has almost been destroyed
by the slash and burn politics of people like Wilson. He's no leader with a
vision for our future. Even when he was asked in several dozen interviews
why he was running, he just kept saying that there were a lot of people in
the Republican party that wanted him to run. He's another California puppet.
Did you know that his former close aid works for Robert Dole's? She's
Croatian, which is probably a big reason why Dole has been so motivated on
the Balkans. I sure wouldn't be surprised to see a Dole/Wilson ticket coming
up.
The Balkans have shown us all one terribly important thing. Be careful who
you elect. And don't just assume that everything will be alright, no matter
who wins.
