I heartily agree with the comments from Charles Naef in respect of the
preponderance of inappropriate and sometimes over-intellectualised and
opinionated postings on the list. There are many other places for that.
My respect and hope goes out to all of you who in the midst of chaos and
brutalism cling on to humanity.
Where is Louise McCorkindale?

I may not be the only one who will "bounce off" the zamir-chat list, if it
continues to be monopolized by Bob Bennet's fictional monologues to President
Clinton and instant rejoinders from "doctorb" and "Ivo." Our colleague from
Hull reminded us of the intended purpose of this conference.

I would like to involve you in an experiment:
I would like to see what impact we can make in the global human mindspace
with messages on both physical and cellular levels and see if we can create a
shift in the acceptance of violence as a solution to the differences in
Bosnia... (for a start.) I'd like to saturate Bosnian media with an
overwhelming outpouring of Love and concern.
There is the story of the 100th monkey. There appears to be documentation of
a shift in behavior of animal populations with newly learned behavior of a
few, without the need for direct experience past a certain critical mass.
I think it's time to try this experiment. I know it sound simplistic and
innocent. Perhaps it is time to reconsider innocence.
I would like to enlist all the media and concerned people and groups of the
world to respond and participate. My note follows. Please respond by
email.
On the weekend of July 15, 1995 we celebrated the Centennial of Buckminster
Fuller's Birth, in San Diego California. A most extraordinary "ordinary
man," Bucky died in 1987. Engraved on his tombstone is "Just call me
trimtab..." in reference to the tiny individual rudder, which turns the big
rudder, which changes the direction of a giant steamship.
In honor and love of Buckminster Fuller and in celebration of the centennial
of his birth, on the 16th of July, I pledged myself also to be a trimtab.
Please join with me to change a piece of the global mindspace. Sign and send
this or do your own statement. Participate in using your resources in
communicating this message.
Thanks, Marv Lyons

To all the people of Bosnia and the Balkans, especially those directly
involved in combat...
We wish to share our love, pain and concern for you, our brothers, sisters
and cousins on this fragile planet. (It will likely not appear to you in this
light, but we are all one species...able not only to participate in great
violence but to love and care with passion.)
It is very hard to witness the events we see in the news. We stood by and
observed inconceivable inhumanities in silent horror in the 1930's and far
too frequently since then. We also remember that World War I, "... the WAR
TO END ALL WARS" was ignited by an assassination in your territory, a brief
81 years ago.
Today our world is too small and communication is too powerful for us not to
know and feel concern for your condition as a part of our own. We feel our
little spaceship earth is too small and precious to accept the destructive
intolerance and territorial conflicts that pre-occupy you. Enhanced
communication is dissolving all human boundaries.
Neither military force or political negotiation have had a positive effect.
The media seem transfixed with their observings. All seem hynotically
involved in the drama and passion. It remains for us, your family around this
small world, to nourish the tiny spark of reconciliation that struggles in
your midst and to lovingly request that you immediately put aside your
weapons and begin talking with each other.
We implore you to set aside the veil of temporary madness and see anew and
forgive and cherish your friends and neighbors of the so recent past. We
would wish for you to again cherish your beautiful countryside and your
romantic and historic cities and share them with the joy and graciousness of
an Olympic past.
With love, understanding and forgiveness, we are your global family members:
