Many thanks for your note. In my case, I guess it was "imperfect earthling
technnology," which actually I think is pretty amazing, but that's another
story. Anyway, I haven't sent - and won't send - anything over 40K!

I definitely think you're right. But if these "preciously balanced
societies" allow the kind of suffering and injustice that has occurred in
the Balkans, then maybe they deserve to become just a little less balanced.
