THE light heavyweight who will square off against champ Roy Jones on
Jan. 9 has a killer punch - literally. Though recent stories about
challenger Ricky Frazier don't mention the incident, he once killed a
man with his bare hands. Frazier, who's also a city cop, was driving
along Eighth Street one night in May 1991 when he got into a dispute
with two "squeegees," as he described them. One of the men, Grady
Alexis, a Haitian friends described as an "artist," allegedly hit
Frazier's blue Jeep (license plate "Boxer 5") with his jacket. Frazier
and his passenger got out and fists flew. Alexis ended up dead after
hitting his head on the curb. Frazier and his friend were cleared of
any wrongdoing. Roy Jones' promoter Murad Muhammad, trying to generate
interest in the upcoming HBO bout, recently said, "One punch can make
[Frazier] great. One punch can make history. One punch can make him a
lot of money." Paul DeRienzo, who covered the death of Alexis as a
reporter for WBAI radio, told PAGE SIX: "The big punch in Frazier's
career - the one that killed Grady Alexis - should be the punch Ricky
Frazier is remembered for." The weird thing is Frazier, who is 39 and
been fighting professionally for six years, doesn't have much of a
punch in the ring, with just seven knockouts in 22 bouts. Frazier is
given no chance against Jones, considered the best pound-for-pound
fighter in the world. Frazier says, "I know sportswriters don't
believe in me. But I've been a cop for 17 years, the most hated
profession in the world. And I'm a professional athlete."

The cop should not have done that, he knows better than that to try to fight someone he should have just arrested him and put him in a holding cell over night. Then he would be let out the next day. The cop could have said he put him in there becuases of fighting in public plus it was a cop. But that is just my oppion. the cop didn't have to kill the guy that kind of makes me mad that he did that and I think that the cop sshould spend some time in jail for killing that guy, I know that the cop was just defending him self and there is nothing wrong with that I have to defend my self every day either at school or in my hood. But the cop was trained to only use strong force if they feel that their live is being threatened ar in danger. So I think that he should have arrested him and put him in jail for a night for fighting that is what any other good cop would have done.
