New York City Cops Draws Guns On Kids At The Children StoreFront School

  • On December 3, 1998 at approximately 1:45PM during school recess A team of New York City Police Officers all donning riot gear. rushed and threw several adolescent kids against the fence with guns drawn. The incident took place in the block of East 129th Street between Park and Madison Avenues. The block which is comprised of many tenement and brownstone buildings also is the home of the Children Store Front School. The storefront a private school which takes up three buildings in the neighborhood,for years has closed it's street to vehicular traffic for yearswhile children ages ranging from 4 to 12 years of age play in the street. A twelve years old girl was injured during the melee when an officer threw her against the fence and as a result of being thrown, she was struck by a battering ram that another officer was holding at the time. A meeting with the 25th Precinct Commanding Officer and the parents of the Childrens Storefront kids will be taken place On December 4th at the School. The Children Storefront school has been seen on ABC's 20/20 many PBS shows and and participated the Name Game Video shown on Nickolodeon Channel.
