Your advice to ALWAYS fight a ticket does not mean "they" lose out. Hell, the cops don't mind that at all! They usually are paid for 3 hours of overtime for any court appearance they go to. So that just adds to their paychecks

Cars kill. Cars are heavily subsidised by the state. If the minority of people who have a car want to pay a fair amount in tax and charges, they should pay many times more that they do now. There are far too many cars.

Some A-hole gave me a ticket for not parking head first in a parking space in a free municiple lot behind some stores. I had pulled into the parking space infront of the one I pulled into becasue it was empty. I wish they would concentrate on solving crimes instead of bothering people who who choose to patronize businesses in their town.

It's funny how this "spider" character is all in support of traffic tickets until he gets one. I have received two parking violations for parking in front of my own workplace. The office where I work is right next to a high-school, so the small court on which the office is located is designated "One-hour parking". Parking in the back parking lot is impossible, as it is always full. Even if I were to get a space there in the morning, I have to leave and return many times throughout the day, and the spot would quickly be filled. On top of that, the parking lot is crowded, people (usually customers of the local businesses and high-school students) regularly park in areas of the lot that are not designated for parking, making the lot difficult to maneuver through in my somewhat large truck. The parking control officer (we call him the Parking Nazi) knows that it is far more practically for me (and some of my co-workers) to park on the small side street next to our office, and I'm sure it tickles him pink when he gets to write us tickets. Every day we play stupid games: he tags our cars, and we roll them back, to get rid of the mark. Sometimes, though, maybe you're in a meeting all morning and you don't see him, he gets you. It is complete BS, a stupid little city ordinance made up to bring still more money to this already overly rich small town in the Silicon Valley. I thought laws were meant to protect us.

Recently, I received a parking ticket that contained all the wrong information on it except my license number. I was never in that area, as a matter of fact, I don't even know where that address is. I called to get more information and rudely I was told it didn't matter if all the information was incorrect as long as they had a valid license number. I am so angry because I know this ticket does not belong to me and cannot understand how an officer can make a mistake on something so obvious as the color, registration month on the license plate and type of car. It seems to me that it's not only the parking meters that are the problem but everything associated with this department!!! Oh, before I forget they mailed me this ticket because supposedly I drove away before the officer could put it on my car!!!

I'm not exactly sure how it costs the police to go to court. Seems like if the "violator" contested a citation, the issuing officer would need to appear and swear to his side of things. Most cities and towns I know of pay their officers to go to court, so in effect, isn't contesting the citations only costing EVERYONE more in tax dollars used to PAY THE POLICE?

don't park there. you contest a fine when you already know that you will be cited if you violate? everyone has an excuse...police should be trying to catch the 'real' criminals! So long as it is someone else, doing some other violation. I don't recall anyone who ever admitted that they deserved a citation...but then , meter maids are just that...meter maids...not homicide detectives, narcotics agents, or any other enforcement officer. My friend dropped me at a gas station stopping the car in a disabled reserved area. As soon as I got off the car a cop came and started writing a ticket. My friend said he was moving the car that had the engine still running right away. But the cop stood behind the car and told him not to move while he was issuing the ticket. Is this fair? We never really parked there. He only dropped me and he was ready to leave. Do you think I can fight this ticket ?

America has an obsession with their cars. People drive two blocks away for something that they need and still either park incorrectly, dont pay the meter, park on the red, yellow, handicapped, block people's driveways, dont have a permit, double park, etc.etc. More than half the time it is drivers irresponsibility for recieving a ticket. Some people dont care where they park and many times inconvenience someone else. I have recieved tickets for parking in places I should'nt have. However, if you know you did wrong pay the fine, take it like a man, and dont do it again.

So what if your parked for an hour in a two hour parking zone and they tow your car and tell you you have outstanding tickets when you haven't actually recieved a ticket in months, and now hold your car hostage and you don't have the money to bail it out or the receipt form the tickets you paid before because silly you you thought 6 months down the road you wouldn't need the f'n receipt. so they say well F-U sir we'll leave your car which you couldn't sell for more than the cost of these made up infractions in some boso's garage until he tryies to sell it and finds its not worth his trouble and that no one wins. because by the time you have enough money to pay the made up infractions you won't be able to pay this jackass's trumped up holding charges because he was kind enough to hold onto that gem of a car they towed for no good reason. Hey I recently got a ticket for doubling up in the train station with my friend and the only reason why I did it was cause I was in Queens and didn't have the money to get back home. So my friend aggreed and we went thru. I know I was in the wrong there but me and my friend are only 16 and I doubled up cause I didnt have two dollars and they gave us both fines for sixty dollars. So what am I suppose to do? There honestly isn't a way to get this money and I only did it to get home.

Nobody is forced to give us tickets. I was ticket @ 4:01 at a meter while i was sitting in the car. The lady told me that the meter was up at 4. Should couldnt have walked to the next car or something but instead this dumb bitch had to hit me with a $115 ticket. The officials at city hall can park anywhere block driveways block fire hydrants double and triple park and thats fine. I think cops and city official are above the law. Thats why everyone hates them.

Cost them more money than they make. 2) Follow a meter-maid for an afternoon and plug every meter they write a ticket for. 3) Go buy a quart of fiberglass resin and a few large syringes. I have so many tickets i may as well turn into a piece of paper. It is disturbing to know, that no matter where you live, people don't like your driving. I go (all of these are tickets now) too slow, too fast, i don't change lanes right, i dont go thru lights right, i recklessly endanger (this while i am going 20 miles an hour over speed bumps), i dont signal correctly, i dont have on my seat belt, i dont have proper insurance papers when they are right there, i am speeding, i am speeding, i am speeding, i am speeding, well you get the idea....i cant do anything right. Hi, I don't know when this was written, but it is so true!! I live in Santa Monica, California where giving parking tickets has reached a level of sophistication that is hard to believe. I have had my license suspended and the core of the problem lies with tickets that I contested, but never received answers for. Or so I thought. They sent them in unmarked white envelopes with no name or street address on them. I own a business and my apartment receives all junkmail known to mankind. Of course I throw things out that look like junkmail. If there isn't a bonifide return address I throw it in the trash. Before I realized this my outstanding tickets were higher than $300.00. I have had a long history in Santa Monica and have never, ever had outstanding tickets until this. I also own a business in a busy area and the city assigns as many as three ticket givers for our area because it's easy pickings. Every other area in the city has one person per shift!! Talk about businesses closing. You cannot escape a ticket in this area. People have come to hate the meter maids and in return the police and city for backing such an unfair system. And who pays for this? Low income, students, seniors, anyone who doesn't live or work in a high end area or profession? I am trying to organize a class action suit against the city. The bottom line is,Ever since the automobile was invented, the governments, local and otherwise, have found ways, to "Cash In" on the "party". You buy the car, you pay THEM, for registration, elsewise, you cant drive it!. Also, you have to submit to the legalized extrotion practice known as Vehicle Inspection, where some tree hugging liberal, determines just how much your car can emit, while city busses drive around with rings so badly worn, that unburnt fuel and crankase oil, is expelled in their exhaust.Should you fail to pass the inspection, you are ticketed until you pass it,even if you are waiting for parts or repairs! Better still are back in parking laws, created for the sole purpose of allowing "ticket issuing parties" to eaisly view inspection and registration stickers on windshields to make ticket writing all the easier! Basically,its all a load of crap, becasuse nobody but NOBODY, stands up against it. just us few.

It is said when life gives you lemons make lemonade. If you have panic attacks it is difficult to find the good, the happiness the joy in life. All I can say is "why me? "I have suffered from panic attacks since I was in public school. (I am now 51) I never knew why I couldn't go on those class trips. If my parents went out for an evening I got a stomachache and spoiled their plans. I grew and so did the panic attacks right into agoraphobia. I was housebound for many years and went for behavioral modification, worked for several years then thanks to stress I went back to panic attacks. My husband left me and 3 small children. I was forced to go to work. I couldn't travel so I had to work "close to home" which meant a paycheck that was very small. I am on Social Security Disability which amounts to a joke. My payments are so small I am eligible for Medicaid. The Klonopin I have taken for 10 years has caused my teeth to disintergrate. Have you ever tried to seek dental treatment at a teaching hospital? I would rather have an autopsy live than go through that again...and I say this with 3 broken teeth in my mouth. I can't afford a dentist. I cannot "do" crowds or afford an attorney, facts known by my former husband, so I have been unable to go back to Court to collect on my Judgment of Divorce", nice, huh? Two years ago we moved to Staten Island, New York, where I do not know a soul. My therapist just took a better paying job, does life get any better? Oh yes, I have a daughter who is a police officer and a son who is a fire fighter....I wonder how they do it. Where they get their strength from. Why can't I find an ounce of their strength? They face danger every day and I quiver and shake at the slightest thing. I used to be able to drive on the Belt Parkway. I no longer can, so I am pretty mad at myself. I paid a parking ticket and the postal service sent it back for lack of a return address. Now I don't have a copy of the ticket number or an address where to send it. I suppose that will cost extra.

Despite what alot of people are saying, you're not being a crybaby at all. And this far too many cars buisness... then go to china & ride a damn bike! What it boils down to is this city is insane. I am a TRUE NYER born & raised in the east village of manhattan, not a transplant complaining about a city that's not theirs. Motorists are victimized every minute of the day. If it's not an idiot pedistrian crossing against their light, it's a bike moron thinking they can ride into the street once again AGAINST THE LIGHT & THE WRONG WAY UP THE STREET creating accidents. Parking tickets are a joke & the cops & pathetic meter maids that write them LIE on more than 50% of them. Case in point, i parked in a space that is a LEGAL parking space that i have used many times before as well as everyone on my block. But on the last day of the month (sound familiar) i got a $150 ticket saying i parked in the crosswalk. Or how about the $115 ticket that said i parked near a hydrant even though the end of my car was CLEARLY away from the start of the res paint on the sidewalk. Then there's the $65 "missing equipment" ticket, but they still have yet to explain what was missing! There is a ticket blitz in this city & anyone with half a brain knows it. Many news stations have already spoken on this. Funny how the bulk of the tickets happen on the last day of the month!!! But ofcourse nyc says there's no ticket quota. If meters are not a problem, then why was the "meter fairy" arrested? The meter fairy was an older man who would roam the city with a bag of quarters & he would put change in meters that were about to expire. Know what your local NYPD did? Arrested him. They still have yet to say what law he broke.... The only people that hate cars are dizzy mush heads who think nyc was made for tourists & walking trips. GET OVER IT. Cars are never going away so learn to live with it. As far as the ticket blitz, i agree FIGHT EVERY FUCKING TICKET! Not every judge is bought & paid for & you may be able to get some justice for these bogus tickets. The problem with the people who NOW live here is that they don't own cars (many can't afford to since they're "artists & actors" hahaha), most can't drive anyway & they all want to ride bikes since they're living hand to mouth, so ofcourse they think you're a crybaby. Afterall they're living mighty hard having to share an apt with 4 strangers while they rush to their job as a server & could probably cycle there faster if your car wasn't taking up space, lol. Those who do own cars, fight the tickets & hold this city responsible.

NYPD AGGRESSIVE ILLEGAL TOWING POLICY. TAKING LEGALLY PARKED CARS AND TOWING THEM TO ILLEGAL PARKING SPOTS. TICKETING THEM AND THEN TOWING THEM TO THE POUND. THIS ACTION IS DONE DURING THE WORKING DAY WHEN THE OWNER OR MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT AROUND. WHAT A SHOCK WHEN THE OWNER RETURNS TO FIND HIS CAR NOT AT THE SPOT WERE HE ORIGINALLY PARKED IT. NOW THE QUESTION? HOW DO YOU FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN YOU CAN'T PROVE THAT YOU WERE LEGALLY PARKED BECAUSE THE ONLY PROOF IS YOUR WORD AGAINT THE TOW OPERATER WHO TOWED IT TO THE ILLEGAL SPOT.THE FINE IS QUITE EXPENSE . I am getting sick of seeing all these bullshit like parking meter, sweeping,permit parking on the side road and so on, i am getting tired of getting a damn ticket, parking should be free coz we pay a fucking taxes on road, we can park your car anywhere you want while you shop and etc. of course police are a real crime fucker.

Going to court to contest a ticket feeds certain officer's salaries. And remember where the salary comes from? Tax-payers. Let's not forget that time is money. Contesting tickets takes a long time. Is it worth a penny or is it worth a day of work? I'm no proponent for big spending, but there are bigger battles that should be fought. Do you use spell check? You should.
