I truly believe the European community, including Russia, should attempt to deal with this situation first. If the European community can not deal with the problems in their own backyard, then we could step in if necessary. Our men and women of the US armed forces should not be called upon to die for a foreign nation unless there is an emminante threat to the US. The hatred between the waring factions stems from hundreds of years of conflict. The Russians controlled this area for many years, and as soon as they left, the hatred flared up again. What makes people think that this peace will last anyway?? I am tired of hearing politicians claim that the US has some obligation to defend the world. I hate to say this, but the world does not fund our military. Not that costs has anything to do with peace. This is not a cop-out either. I would just like to see the surrounding countries attempt to deal with their own problems first!! I do feel for the people dieing in Bosnia, I really do, but soon our young men and women will be dieing as well.
