I've been operating motor-vehicles for 33-years, since 1971, and have been pulled to the shoulder on six different occasions by local police or state troopers. On two occasions, I was seven miles over the speed limit, and in the other five instances the stops were routine, and I was simply cautioned to watch for oncoming road hazards, etc. In each instance, the police officers to a man were courteous, well-spoken, and calm; in fact, in one instance, after five-minutes of friendly chit-chat, I discovered that the state trooper had once been one of my Staff NCO's more than thirty years ago, in the Marine Corps. Three of my former high school classmates are state troopers, and all are guys I've known since childhood; and these men will remain lifelong friends. All are fairly quiet men, and all are quite fair men. To the fellow who said, "Fuck the police," I say: Man, people like you are holding our country back. And to the man who says he was kicked and beaten by police, I ask, what did you do to provoke the incident? And, finally, to the guy who is trying to race-bait the I-44 'incident,' I say, leave it alone, man. Clinton's no longer in power to agitate, to 'racialize,' to turn Americans on one-another. So give it up. Yours is a stale argument, and thinking Americans no longer want to hear that vile kind of agit-prop.

Very well said. As a member of the law enforcement community that last thing we do is ride around and look for people to beat up. Tell the whole story. You start your story with I was punched but and kicked but don't tell what you did to have the officer perform these tactics on you. Further more we have a system that you can tell your lies to. Its called the courts. Remember police officers don't find you guilty. The jury does!! So I assume you and your Attorney found out that you couldn't convince 12 people that you were innocent. Maybe you just need to tell all of the story. Ps. You don't get 27 years for a simple assault or a resist arrest. What were the Physical and possible "scarring" (as you put it) injuries to the officer? Maybe next time they should use the other end of the gun!

dear david, i am not surprised at your story. Excessive force is captured on tape and no one can deny it. i can not contact the FBI for fear of my security, I avoid law enforcement at all times. I have no criminal background and want to keep it that way. Who knows what law i would be braking by getting involved, i am sure they can find one. I also agree, why aren't you telling the whole story? There is one thing I can attest to, in Law Enforcement there is one goal held above all others, at the end of the shift 'we' go home! period! Often a scroat will want to fight, thats ok as we understand it comes from inbreading and general upbringing in a family tree that looks like a stump, but despite your stupidity...'we' go home at the end of the shift. Some of us consider it 'thining the heard' as we mostly incounter the stupid and poorly educated on the highways. nuff said.
