A rookie officer with the department alledgedly recieved information that the Inmate had received drugs from his recent visit (from his mother, son and State Highway Patrolman father). The officer went to the Inmates cell and ordered him to strip naked and then removed him from the cell. The cell was searched (several times) and no drugs were found. It is believed that the officer was looking for marijuana. Approximately eight days later, the same officer again, alledgedly received another 'tip' that the same Inmate has drugs in his cell. This time the officer enters the cell, orders the Inmate out of his bunk and tells him to strip and change underwear. While the Inmate is removing his underwear, according to witness's, the officer puts a self defence move on the Inmate, pinning him against the wall. (using your forearm under the persons chin and applying force on their neck)The Inmate is handcuffed and removed from the cell. Several searches produce nothing. The officer asked the Inmate, where are you hiding the stuff. The Inmate respondes that he isn't hiding anything. The officer says, that's OK I'm putting you in the hole anyway for resisting and assaulting an officer. The conduct report the officer wrote to justify placing the Inmate in the 'hole' stated the Inmate was ordered to remove his shorts and in so doing was observed taking contraband out of the fly of the underwear. The Inmate then placed the contraband in his anus and then removed the contraband and tried to flush it down the toilet and finally threw it somewhere. This, according to the officer, all happened in the blink of an eye while the officer stood just inches away from the Inmate. No contraband was found. The Inmate was tested for drug use (marijuana) and the results were negative. The results had been negative the previous 15 times as well. The Inmate was placed in the 'hole' where he still remains weeks later. He was found guilty by the Rules Infraction Board based on the officers word. The Inmate is facing serious State felony charges of assaulting an officer. The Inmate hopes, in a way, that he is charged and the case is taken to an outside 'real' court where it will be subject to 'real' rules of evidence and law. There were staff involved in the 'process' who believed the Inmate but were apparently afraid to go against the system. The young officer, according to a commanding officer who didn't want to buck the system, was a corrections cowboy trying to make a name for himself. A tuff guy, member of a special tacticle unit of officers on alert and ready to be called in when 'force' must be taken

Bitch! maybe if your friend wasn't a punk he'd get some slack from the man
This is deplorable but not surprising considering things I have seen and heard since becoming interested in the state of our corrections systems. It is not uncommon for things of this nature to happen yet the public feels they deserve what they get. the only problem is the public forgets that most of these people will one day walk the street again and the anger and bitterness from this type of treatment will not make them the most desirable person to run into on the street. If we wish things to improve we have to treat people differently and help prepare them for return to the real world not encourage the same types of behavior that got them there in the first place.
Inmates are in prison because they are dishonest. They are con men who obviously have the ability to con you into believing a far fetched version of what probably really happened. Inmates get what they deserve by virtue of just being found guilty and being sent to prison. Perhaps a few mean lessons will change their attitude about recidivism, and save us all some money. I'm glad there are Cowboys in the prisons who are willling to do the job. It can't be easy on them.
Just goes to show the major reform our Justice system as well as the Corrections system need to go through...it is cases like these that truly describe our Justice System in America...and it still remains to be the best in the world...It's sad that that pathetic CO had to prove his ability of I-really-don't-know-what-I'm-doing through an injustice such as the above mentioned...Now to belief that a senior officer would not do anything about it sounds a bit strange being that this officer was a Rookie...I think we lose sight of the fact that inmates are human...granted they have committed crimes and need to be punish, but that does not mean that officers like this one have the right to treat them like sub-humans...I wonder how he would react if the tables were turned...
IT APPEARS AS IF HE "HAS" MADE A NAME FOR HIMSELF...."THE CORRECTION COWBOY OF CLEVELAND"..OOOH I LIKE IT FROM "CELL BLOCK SUPERMAN OF SOUTH DAKOTA"
As a CO at The Wall, I have seen this type of situation on occasion. Fortunately, at least where I am assigned, such incidences are the exception & not the rule. Also, I have seen CO's take the inmate's side and do what they knew was right...by writing up a memorandum as a witness. It can be a tough job, but that isn't an excuse to abuse anyone...
First hand I'm aware of the often abuse within our Jails and Prisons that happen to inmates. It needs to be addressed and stopped! What gives the person whose free the right to mistreat the bound? To use and mistreat that authority while heads are turned? We are to promote reform to the inmate not deform.. God forbid should someone speak up while remaining within the confines. One day we all will answer for and be accountable for our actions that would be the hope and positive I'd speak to those bound and injustly treated, sometimes, worse than animals! God have Mercy on us all!! My vote is in favor of the inmate...There is no justice or heart in our system today, NONE!!
CO's like him are the EXCEPTION not the rule!!!!
Sounds like the corrections officer IS A REAL ASSHOLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to meet such a vorrections cowboy in the streets some day. The nerve of the cowardly office. It's no ownder so many inmates stay bad and go uncorrected. I thaught this was America!?

he's lucky that the officer din't rape him. i consider "corrections officers" as rapist and murders.
DON'T DO THE CRIME IF YOU CAN'T DO THE TIME. HOW COME YOU KNOW ALL THE PARTICULARS TO THE INCIDENT? WHERE YOU IN THE CELL!!!!!! IF HE WAS NOT A CON, HE WOULD BE DOING HIS DOPE IN THE COMFORT OF HIS OWN HOUSE. sORRY bUT I FORGOT A BOX OF TISSUES TO WIPE MY TEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think the officer is a asssssssss hhhhhhhooooooooolllllleeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
talk about being on the right side of law you stupid police officer
talk about being on the right side of law you stupid police officer
It is terible to think the law can be so twisted. Not to say all police are terrible, its just some take advantage of the power of the badge. It seems that once you get caught up in the system, they make it near impossible to get your life back on track. My heart goes out to this prisoner, and his family. But hopefully the saying "what goes around, comes around," will hold true in this case, and that officer will get his.
What was the outcome of this case. I am hoping the Officer has since been fired for his unnecessasry use of force. If the story you tell is acurate and correct the officer should be arrested.
It seems to me that this so called officer sould think before he acts,he must know that by now that all eyes are on his actions by the inmates and other officers. Why not just say I made a mistake.Be a man about the sitution, I understand It is a stressfull job, so why would an correction officer turn his job from stressfull one to a dangerous,so that officer sould watch his back.Like they say what goes around comes arould. And If the job is to much for him go drive a cab they just might have a job opening. Jack
This happens all the time. It even happens up here in Canada. Corruption in the Correctional Services runs rampant wherever you go. Violence, rapes, theft. These people only answer to themselves and that makes them above the law. It is only going to get worse as the New World Order unfolds.
I am a CO. for Ohio, still in the "waiting pool", and it's a shame some Officers just can't do the job right! From the report above, I see no reason for the self defence move that was used and I sure would NOT let the officer get away with that! If in fact the "witness's" are inmates just defending one of their own, maybe next time the searching officer should bring along another officer who is not involved in the issue for a witness on his behalf. Lets not forget, we are a team, not the lone gunman! Where did this rookie get his training?
that's real cold...and we need to settle all that kind of violence, because it's determined to become an ongoing retaliation thing between (officers) and citizens on the streets, and (correctional officers) in the facilities.. Americas most (noble) men puts Americas nightmare here, makes it stronger, and continue to fight it..the whole thing is nonesense, can be solved within that same blink it that (officer) to see that happen! $$$$$$$$
Yes its amazing that everyone in prison is innocent!!!!!!
This "Story" is suspect. It is most likley un-true. Society is way took kind to criminals this day and age. You must "lock them on" like a little kid or they will walk all over you.
The Ohio Parole Board and the DRC in Ohio are one of the, if not the most corrupt in the United States of America. This article does not surprise me because of my contact with many inmates in the Ohio Prisons. Any other abuse that you come across in any Prison in the country please forward to WRWL Ministries(Prison)---wrwl@usa.net
I just found this website, but I couldn't believe what I read!! I mean I have heard some stories from people that have been locked up (for what ever reason) but I didn't know if I should believe them or not. I think the Corrections Officer was VERY WRONG for doing that to the prisoner. All he was doing was making that inmate even more p..... off. Then when that inmate gets out, he will be more than likely to take the aggression out on a innocent bystander. That is so wrong!!
I think that this is why we have crime because the system that was made to help us is made able to work the other way. My cousin is beign held in a Philadelphia jail on a charge that he touch a little girl and all the case has come up with is that he is not the person The DNA test was negivte and the woman who said he did it did not even show up for the first trial I'm trying to find some help to get my cousin out of jail
this is exactly the problem with our correction institutes. some of these institutes are privately funded and are not overseen by any outside comittes allowing inmates basic rights to be violated.although prison is meant to be a punishment this kind of treatment should be considered cruel and unusual. i know for a fact that inmates rights are violated on a regular basis at the multi county correctional center at 1514 victory rd. in marion ohio and nothing has ever been done to stop this .
Ireally think it's wrong to just put down the inmates and make them do shit that thay really dont have to do and it's wrong to hit them and to just push them around inmates are there to do there time and thats it.If it wasn't for the officers being unwilling to them and plus the test in not positive
if such happens again (GOD FORBID)punch the motherfucker out.... you will get nailed for something you do .... not for something you didnt do..... in my opinion it will be worth it.... FUCK HIM....
