Police arrest teen with a BB gun and charge him with a felony

A 14 yr. old boy was at the local ballfield with friends. His grandpa had just bought him a new BB pistol which shoots rubber BBs. He had the gun in his pocket but was taking it out to show friends when a police officer came on the scene. Just as he tossed the gun to a frienc the cop drew his gun and proceeded to arrest the boy, and his frienc charging them with felonys of concealment and brandishment. They were taken to the police dept. where they were searched and I have no doubt were not informed of their rights. After consulting a lawyer who specializes in juvenile law it was confided by the lawyer that this is an increasing porblem in this area. What has this world come to? It seems the cops in this area are tired of chasing real criminals and have decided instead to harrass teens who often don't know the law or that they have rights. My question is, what "Hitlerite" is ordering these attacks on youth. I can't get any satisfactory answers and I don't know if this is nationwide or just here in the "Moutaineers are always free state" Ha! I would like to hear from others who have witnessed this type of abuse on teens who are by the way, our future.

It is absolutely the thing these days. I my state teens are constantly harassed and abused,especiall by the State Police. Physical and verbal abuse is the thing they like most. A lot of states have dangerous weapons laws that cover facsimilies as well as real weapons. Our constitutional rights to keep and bare arms has been violated. I can see children not carrying weapons,but ..........dont arrest them for it.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. Here in Southern California, I have come by incident after incident in which police but normal young mischivious boys and girls through the ringer, cause there families pain, worry and financial hardship while many, many, many real crimes go unsolved or uninvestigated. It is apparant to me that they take there lack of abilities out on good, hard working people. Kids today can't explore or just be kids anymore. If those of us who grew up years ago were judged by today's standards, we would be hardened criminals probably in jail for the rest of our lives.... But back then, the world understood the difference between curious misheviousness and real crime. One little misjudgement today can destroy a whole life and I do believe that we were taught that you can't learn anything without making mistakes.... God help those good kids who do just that....
