Police abuse in the U.S. is relatively rare compared to the number of calls they respond to on a daily basis. Your internet site would be better off telling the heroic stories of police officers placing their lives on the line for their fellow Americans. If we had no police officers, do you think our society would survive? I don't think so. When reporting the rare police abuse (no organization is perfect) you should reinforce the fact that 99% of the police are professional and will help/assist you in a moment's notice.
Thats the biggest bunch of b.s. I ever heard spider. you think A pig cop really gives a f*ck about you? You've obviously been sniffing your bosses A*shole too often. Get a clue!
officer santiago in austin,tx. routinely beats up transient and homeless people.
Dear DOAP , Do you help people that have incounter police miscondut, or can refere them to the proper source for help. PLease respond rosegreen @worldnet.att.net
The 911 emergency call in system is seriously flawed
hey spider, why don't you build a database of wonderful police and see if you get 1000 visitors a week. I doubt it. Even if most are good, that doesnt mean that we should be complacent about the abusvie ones...
I agree with Spider that police abuse in the U.S. is a relatively rare occurrence. There's absolutely nothing wrong with calling attention to the individuals who exploit their badges because it is just this type of person who demeans the entire police population. I do think, though, that when attention is called to abusive situations it should be balanced with a positive story - there are thousands of heroic actions taken every day, by police officers, that are ignored because they aren't "sensational" enough to be considered newsworthy. It's a shame that there wouldn't be 1000 hits on this site if it were about positive police actions instead of theterrible behavior of a few. I don't think that speaks too highly of the United States and its current degree of decency and morality.
I hah a very hard 5 years behind me. I lost everything I worked for in my life, include my good health. I'm 51 years 0ld, married almost 16years. During in this tremendous pressure in my life i developed heart problem, diabetis, stomach ulcer, severe back pain (from injury)high blood pressure, fast heart beat, heart palpitation, etc. I'm in constant pain. All this problems put me in severe depression. Finally I wasdicided with my husband that we need help, because I have anger in me, which I had less and less power to controll. We checked in the hospital emergency, and was turned down, because unverified insurance coverage. My family doctor advised to check in the hospital, because he diagnosed the severe depression. We walked away from the hospital with out help. So I did turn to the internet to do research on my problem, and guidance on medication. July 9th, 1998 I did visit my family doctor and asked, that if he could give me PROSAC for help. So he did, immedietelly from his samples and I did take it right away. On Yuly 10th, 1008, the next day, I had a nervous brakedown, I was beating my husband with out fight or argument. I was just started to beat him with the breadboard with foaming mout, and supposedly I was screaming that I will kill him. than he tried to defend him self, started to beat back, then I wanted to kill my self, and while he wanted to take the knife from me, i injured his right palm. He was petrified and agitated, therefore called the police. I was arrested, jailed and Had no chance to contact with the outside word for 4 days. I did not received my Prosac, my regular Insulin, and my ulcer medication, while in the jail huspital, therefore I have high bloddsugar related complications. I had a public defandent, who did not informed me that I do not have to pleed guilty.... I was insane, not a criminal. The Cop looked my Prosac on the dining table in the time of my arrest, and was mocking about it.... After the jail, because the fear of suicide, I was thrown in the mental hospital, and there I was told, thai I was not supposed to be arrested, supposed to be taken to the hosptal, and traited for severe depression. The police, to add more to the dirthy work, called my husband to the cort, and advised, that he should file restraining ordes against me, and wanted this way justified thirs conduct... I was as advised seeking help after my relese from the county mental health center, and I was told again, that I was wrongfully arrested, I'm not a criminal, but an injured person, therfore severe depressed. I'm on medication and on therapy for my sicness. I'm thinking to sue for wrongful arrest; loose thrust in law enforcement; medical neglect, and undeserved criminal record, and humiliation from the deputies in the jail. Before my trial I was supposed to traited by law as an inocent, because it was not prooven other vice, and I was received the traitment as a dirthy low down criminal. The traitment of the jail taks away all human dignities, and it is painfull for an inocent.....
HEY WELL WE ALREADY A SHITIM DATABASE(NCIC/SCIC),IM SURE YOUR IN THAT ONE WCK-CAL!
Could you provide some more information on this abusive power, because I am writing a report on it.
I am from Vineland NJ and recently I discovered that my wife was having an affair with a police officer named Roland Morgan. I confronted my wife after tapping my phone and she new she was caught. I then tried to confront Roland Morgan who denied it despite my having him on tape so i decided to take the tapes and my cell phone records to his wife after speaking to her once she called my house repeatedly so I went back to see her. As I arrived at her house her husband Roland was getting out of his vehicle at which time he saw me reached for his firearm and ran after my vehicle. I sped away. This was reported to his Internal Affairs dept. who refused to do anything so I pressed charges myself. Now I am dealing with the county prosecuters office who seems to be trying to sweep it under the rug also. They seem to think Im going to let it just go away-NOT! I am leaving some addresses so that anyone interested may help by writing to the police dept. or wife of this officer, lets make him pay! The Police Dept is Wood St. Vineland NJ. 08360. Any correspondance to his wife would go to... Peggy Morgan 1597 Jackson dr. Vineland NJ 08360. Please write!!!!
It is up to the honest and honorable police officers to keep their brothers and sisters from abusing their powers, but too often cops don't turn in their brothers and sisters in arms for fear of being a snitch or tattle-tale. We've all seen what happens to the few cops who are truly honorable, such as Frank Serpico. We need police who are more dedicated to the job, instead of trying to protect the bad ones. Police tell citizens that there is no shame in reporting crimes no matter who you turn in, so they should feel no shame in helping the greater good. Im American
It is about time that people realize that the poloce aren't as wonderful as they may seem. Police are very much human not perfect beings as some people may think. Police discriminate, lie, and break laws. Not all are bad, but many take their power and run with it in any way that will better them selves. There have also been many instances in which police took their power to enfoce to far. Letting their anger and hate get the best of them. Me personlly i don't like the police (in general) or the gov't. I believe that it is full of liars amd manipulators. I believe that if you give people power ..like children they will keep pushing and pushing to see how far they can go. WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR SYSTEM AND MAKE IT BENEFIT EVRYONE. End discrimination and corruption or it will get so bad there is no turning back........i agree with wck-cal 110%...spider get some guts to stand up for your self and i bet if you were in one of those peaceful protests and got pepper spraied in your eyes you wouldnt think the way u do know
this is a note to spider or anyone else who says that this devoted to good policemen the only reason that iwas looking here is that i was roughed up by the police then charged with aassaulting them not only wasi injured physically and humiliated, but now have to face prosecution initated by the dihonest bullies who consider themselves piblic setrvants
while i was being arrested in avon n.j. the cop (timmy Mcgrath) asked if i had anything that he should nkow about.I said no.His next remark was if i get stuck with aqnything he would kill me.After i get out of jail I press charges agents him for terrest treats. When we went to court the cop took the fifth and the judge dismissed the charge.the judge was Judge apostalou in Bradley beach n.j.
The main reason anyone reports a problem is to stop it from continuing from happening again.
On 01/28/01 approximately 5:00 p.m. two Apple Valley Sheriffs were called to my home by my son Ryan Richards. They were called because my mother (Geraldine Richards 65 yrs. old) had found several small bags that looked like they had once had a white powder in them, outside by where my sister had parked her car. My mother took them and put them into the sewing machine drawer. When the police arrived my mother asked my son to go to the drawer and retrieve the bags to give to the Sheriffs ( the officers were present and heard my mother ask him to get them and the officers watched him get them from the drawer. A few moments later the officers arrested my son for sales of narcotics. My son asked them are you arresting me for handing you the bags, they were not even mine. The two officers said " That's a good way to cover up by saying they are not yours". My sister (even though she was despondent and needed counseling ) was also arrested because they found a knife that she had had for many years in her car (which they had no warrant to search nor permission and they said they found another bag in her car, which was not true). The Apple Valley Sheriffs transported my sister and my son to San Bernardino to the West Valley Detention Center. West Valley Detention Center : 9500 Etawanda. Rancho Cucamunga. Booking No: 0101343507/ For several hours my mother and I tried to find out from the Apple Valley Sheriffs Department where they had been taken and what they were charged with. First, we called Apple valley, they said they did not know where they were. Then, Apple Valley told us to call the Victorville jail. I called the Victorville jail and they said they did not know where they were. We had to do this several times calling back and forth because neither Apple Valle Sheriffs or the Victorville Sheriffs could tell us anything. Finally I asked "You mean that my sister and my son were taken in a police car and you have no idea what has happened to them". Finally after being insistent the Apple Valley Sheriffs told us that they had been taken to West Valley Detention Center. I located the phone number and called them. They verified that they were there and what they were being charged with, I could not believe it. About a half an hour later my son Ryan called, he was very upset. My son told me the police at the jail were behaving very badly toward him. Ryan told me there was one officer that was openly bragging about being suspended for 30 days for doing something bad and against policy and he was proud of it. Two other officers were also present and they were ridiculing my son, laughing at him, they even told him he had T.B. to upset him ( he does not). My son asked for the blonde haired officers name (the one who was bragging about being suspended) but he would not give it to him. My son was very afraid because the way they were acting toward him. My son asked me why they were treating him like that and talking to him that way because he had done nothing. When I was done talking to Ryan on the phone , I was also worried about his safety so I called the Detention Center and asked to talk to the Watch Commander. I first talked to a officer Primrose and then he put me on hold for a few moments then the Watch Commander spoke to me( 10:00 p.m. 01/28/01) I told the Watch Commander what was going on and how the 3 officers were talking and treating my son and expressed my concern for his safety. The Watch Commander spoke to me and said ( in a smart aleck tone of voice) "Well gee, I was standing there also the whole time and I did not hear them say that". I told the Watch Commander " Oh, come on now, you mean your saying that you didn't hear the other officers say those things?" The Watch Commander then said ( exact words) no I didnt hear them say anything, did you (meaning me) hear them say that ( of course I didnt because I was not there, he was mocking me). I was so very worried about my sons safety and his health. My son has a heart problem and he was feeling very ill due to the manner in which the officers were treating him and talking to him. My son had told them he was sick and needed to see a doctor but they ignored him. After I called and spoke to the Watch Commander my son told me the officers told him to gather his things and told him to make sure he doesnt forget anything they didnt want him to call his mommy. The following morning, my son called me again extremely upset. He said they were treating him and talking to him so very badly and he was very afraid they may do him harm. My son also told me he was very sick and was having bad pains in his chest and they still had not let him seek medical attention. My son also told me that he had to go to the bathroom very badly but they would not give him any toilet paper. I was very disturbed and worried for my sons safety and could do nothing to help him. I made many phone calls, one of the calls to the internal affairs. I spoke to a Sergeant Kollar. Sergeant Kollar told me that he did not know of any officer there that had been suspended for 30 days but that he would check on the matter. A couple of hours later, my son called me, again very upset and feeling very sick. They had sent my son to see the nurse. The nurse also treated him very badly and had told him that he was not sick and that he was just trying to fool the system. The nurse then told him to let her finish so he could go call his mommy again. My son was very hurt and could not understand why they were all treating him so badly. My son said that he has done nothing to make them behave that way towards him, he has been respectful and talked to them nicely. A short time after I spoke to my son on the phone, Sergeant Kollar called me. He said that he had went to the Detention Center and spoke to the person above the Watch Commander and he saw to it that mt son saw the nurse. I then told him the way the nurse talked and treated my son. He listened to me but evaded any answers and just said "Well, if they did do that". I told him that my son was telling the truth that he never has lied to me, we are very close. I also told the Sergeant that I was prepared to go to the extreme to see justice. I also told him that I would do whatever it takes to get the media there and to have them broadcast my story because I was not afraid or embarrassed. I even told him if I had to I would go to the Detention Center and chain myself to the fence or gate to get the news there. I then told the Sergeant that I had made many phone call and I was going to make many other calls until I saw to it that my son and my sister were out of that place. I also asked him what kind of officers they had running the Detention Center. He again avoided my questions. I received a return phone call from a Guy Eisenbrey with the California Police Chiefs Association. I was told he could not help me (even though he was in charge of the ethics and practices of police officers) but I was given a phone number to call. He referred me to the Medical Services for jails ( Miss Kathy Wilde). I called Miss Wilde and told her my son was ill and had not seen a doctor. I also told Miss Wilde the way the nurse had talked to my son and treated him. Miss Wilde told me that she would send a Doctor right over to the Detention Center to see him and she would investigate the actions of the nurse. Later that day I spoke to my son again and my son told me they are still treating and talking to him badly. I told my son to try to stay calm that I was trying to do everything I could to get him out of there. My son told me they were threading to have my phone blocked so he could not call me. I received a phone call from the jail Probation department. The Probation officer said that my son would be going to court the following morning instead of two days later like I was first told. It is now 10:00 p.m. on 01/29/01 and my son has not called me. I am very worried about him. My son had told me on the phone that morning that he was scared because they keep threatening to block the phone so he could not call me. This is a horrible thing, I am so worried and afraid for my son and I cannot get anyone to help me. My son and my sister both called this morning crying because they did not go to court. They know they didnt do anything and they have never been in trouble so they are scared to death. I dont know what to do. About 12:00 p.m. I cannot take it anymore. I make one final attempt to call to try to find someone that can help them. I talked to the County Supervisors office. They just try to brush me off by giving me a phone number to call. I finally explode. I told them that I did not want another number to call and that I have called enough people already and nobody can help. I then told them that I was driving down to the Detention Center and that I was going to stand in the middle of the driveway and I wasnt going to move until my son was helped. I also told them that I was going to hold a big sign saying " My son is being tormented and abused by the law enforcement ( San Bernadino Sheriffs Department) . I would also say "Enter these gates are you have no rights". I made a big sign and drove there. I brought a chair with me because I was going to lay in the driveway but I thought they might run me over. I put my chair up and I also decided not to sit in the middle of the driveway but to the side of it. I sat in the cahir and held up my sign. I was very nervous because you should have seen the looks I was getting from Sheriffs that were coming in and out. No news department showed up and it was very cold and windy. It was starting to get dark and I did not want to be there when it was dark. I drove all the way back broken hearted because I still could not do anything to help them. I fell so helpless. It is now 12:00 p.m. on 01/30/01. I dont know if I can go thru another night of this heartache. Tomorrow if my son and my sister do not go to court, I will go there again with my sign but I will dress very warm so I can stay longer than 3 hours. I found out why my son had not called me. He had been put into isolation because they had tested him for T.B. My son does not have T.B. My son was to be in court on 01/31/01. I went to the court house and they said his name was on the list. They did not bring my son to court from the jail. I went home and immediately called to the jail. They would not tell me why he did not go to court. I called Sergeant Kollar from Internal Affairs. He told me that my son did not go to court because I called the doctor because I was concerned that he might be contagious. That was a flat out lie. I never said that. I called the doctor for his chest pains because he has a heart problem. You see how dishonest they are and how they lie. These are supposed to be Police Officers. Later that night my son called me. He was very upset. He called because they took him out of isolation (because I called them and to cover their actions) and placed him in a cell where their were very bad inmates. The guard in charge of the cell even ask my son why they were putting him in their, that he wasnt a bad kid. Even the guard questioned there decision. Wham my son went into the cell there were two men that were making him paper flowers and said they wanted to rape him. You see how the sheriffs would do things to get back at my phone calls purposely. My son said later that night two inmates raped another inmate in front of him. The guards know what go on in that cell. That is why they put my son in there, purposely! I was very angry. I went to Los Angeles that night and stood outside the CBS television station in hopes They might help me. I stood there from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. Nobody came out to talk to me. At 1 a.m. I went to channel 5 and stayed there for 3 hours. Nobody from channel 5 came out either. I was so desperate I could not give up I had to do something because my sons safety was in jeopardy. I drove to the Government Building in San Bernardino. I spoke with the people in the Congressman's office. Then I went to the Senators office, the Assemblyman's office and the County Supervisors office. I was advised to go to the jail and file a formal complaint. I went to the jail and told them I wanted to file a complaint with the watch commander. The watch commander did not even come out an officer named D. Burton came out to talk to me. He told me that I could not make a complaint. These are only some of the illegal activities there. My son and I were denied our Constitutional Rights, Amendments among other things. This is why I demand for the charges to be dropped and I want an investigation done. Laureen Richards 15469 Wichita rd. Apple valley, CA. 92307 (760)242-2853
This is great, I'm a junior at Helix High School in San Diego, CA, just the other day a cop killed mentally ill man that had a pair of scissors, here in SD, last year as a sophomore I did a 4-6 page paper for English class on the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal, this year I decided to do the 6-8 page paper as a junior on Police Brutality and whether there actions are are standard for certain situations. Any more sites you can give me would be great. Let's hope little things like essays and the speeches that go with them can help people become more aware of whats going on. THANKS, AlMA ACEVEDO
We need more of these pages.............With BUSH in the white house, the next few years are going to be hell on poor and working people. The Police have their President in Power, they will do whatever they want. George W. Bush once said "There ought to be limits to Freedom". PEOPLE FIGHT BACK!
I think this is a great site to gather information on the widespread problem of policecorruption and how it is invisible to the Americam public. Here in our city of New Bedford, Ma, the police continously run amok with no accountablity. THe city adminstration usually has a policy of denial in such things. The accusations range from intimidation, false arrest, beatings, deaths, racism, murder, humiliation. They are even smug about it discretely and you know they have everyright in being smug since nothing is ever done about it. But it does do good that there issites like these, that there is a potential chance that these incidents will decrease in time when the public is alerted and demands more accountability.

Actually, you are wrong "Spider". I know for a fact that research has been done in Canada on Vancouver and Toronto police forces that determined at least 75% of police officers are corrupt. The study used the complaints received from the public and by anlysis of the number of officers involved in each case, the number of incidents that go unreported they extrapolated some pretty scary numbers about how rampant and systemic police corruption really is. Of course this study included in it's definition of corruption abuses of power. You are right that almost every 'profession' ( actually, police are para-professionals to be more accurate) has it's 'bad eggs' but the police in North America have disproportianately more than pretty much all occupations. Yes, we need police. Are they really at any more risk than any other occupation. Again, "Spider" you are wrong...in fact depending upon the study, police are listed at about 20th- 40th in terms of risk on the job. Do your homework!...but then again...the police are deliberately selected for their mediocre IQs...can't have them being independant thinkers now can we!!! HAve you read the Rebublica by Plato? The enforcers are trying to take control....leave it to the thinkers...chump! In Toronto...where > 75% of police will break the law...knowingly
Officer Silas Ellis of the Saint Louis City Police Department (MO)is never off duty. Even when he's guzzling beer at a bowling alley, he manages to uphold the law by beating the crap out of men one-third his size. Well, he had to; the men dared to complain about being over charged. I think one of the biggest tragedies of September 11 is that the majority of Americans (who are appallingly ignorant)think that anyone in a uniform or a position of authority is *automatically* some kind of hero. It's now the social norm to show reverence to these people, even when many have done abolutely nothing to deserve it. I can't even openly criticize Bush without some eaves-dropping, mentally vacant suburbanites suggesting I'm a supporter of terrorism. Police and government officials will take full advantage of that sentiment, and ass-rape Americans more often and with impunity. You'll see.
fuckin kooks
I was a victim of police brutality by Officer Bruce Vance on October 4, 1996 at Barnard-White Middle School in Union City, CA. You can read about this incident in my book entitled, "A Fadeaway Dream of Justice to Redeem" about a court case cover-up. The good news is that the Supreme Court of California is now involved and the Union City Police Deparment is now investigation the cover-up after nearly six years. The book is available on Amazon.com.
Rather than finding the animal who attacked me in a five start hotel in Vancouver Canada, the police decided that I did it to myself. They called me a liar and a pervert and refused to look at the polygraph I took that disproves their theory. Also the surgeon who reconstructed my face with 2 metal plates under my eyes said there is no way I could have done that to myself. I want a lawyer to take the Vancouver Police department to trial for police brutality and human rights violations. Know anyone?
Dublin. CA May, 12, 2003 The Dublin Police are out of control!!! This is fucking ridiculous. I have lived here for 22 years, and am afraid to even leave my house any more. I am fucked with going to or coming home from work 3 to 4 times a week. If I ride my bike, I am harassed even more often! I've heard every reason, From "no light on your bike" to "No red reflector on the back of your bike" to "What you doing out at this time of night?(6 fucking PM!). I am clean-shaven, Not filthy dirty, and am a pleasant person to talk to, Yet am still asked as soon as I acknowledge their Prescence "When did you use last?" If anyone even dares to say they don't use drugs, they are arrested immediately, for "Suspicion of being under the influence" and taken to Santa Rita Jail in DUBLIN, where you can legally be held for 3 days and nights, If you refuse to give Blood or Urine to Prove your own fucking innocence! If you agree with their 'Demands' and give up your Blood or Urine which is fucking Unconstitutional and Illegal, you will be released in about 8 to 13 hours, with a court date in about two weeks. This is happening over and over again in Dublin, CA; every day all day and night long. If you are on Probation for anything in any court anywhere, and refuse a Dublin 'Police' officers Demands to Search you, or answer his 'Questions' in just the right manner, or really don't know any names of drug dealers or houses where drugs are sold, You WILL be charged with Failure to comply with a Police Officer, Violation of Probation, (which you can't even plead not-guilty to!) And Obstructing Justice/Preventing a Peace Officer from Completing his Duties! You WILL go to SANTA RITA for a minimum of 180 days (first offense) and could be sent to San Fucking Quentin for up to 3 Years! Dublin Police are Harassing everyone from age 7 or so up to Senior citizens of age 70. My neighbor is a widower, 70 years old, with terrible Asthma, and Emphysema, and she has been pulled out of her car in the middle of the day, and forced to stand in the sun, with her Oxygen bottle while two 'Officers' ransack her car, looking for Marijuana and Crystal Meth-Amphetamines! while this was going on, a third 'Officer' was demanding this poor woman complete 4 different kinds of 'Tests' to prove that she wasn't Stoned or high on Crystal Meth-Amphetamine. She can barely breathe just sitting quietly on a couch at her house, and these son-of-a-bitches are yelling at her to keep her head back! Eyes Closed! Don't Look at me! Head back Further! Fuck This Fucking Police Dept. This can't be Legal Anywhere! She called me for a ride to Valleycare in Pleasanton, CA to get an emergency Shot because she couldn't breathe after this harassment. I rushed to her house and found her unable to get up off her front Porch, gasping for air. Her car was Torn Apart, literally! The rear seat was upside down , seat-belts askew, center console broken(because she didn't have the key for it on the key ring), ashtray full of change all over the floorboards, and her registration and insurance papers ripped "accidentaly" in their hurry to find her 'Secret Stash ' She was Blue when I got her to Valleycare, and rushed into Emergency and worked on by 9 EMT's and attendants. She almost had a Stroke from Dehydration from standing in the sun for over 25 minutes being fucked with by The Dublin 'Police'. Driving home from the Hospital, I was stopped by one of the very Officers who did this to my neighbor! I pulled over , was told through a PA Horn to remain in the vehicle , keep my hands visible, etc. etc. until another car arrived as "Backup" While telling the officers what had happened to this 70 year old woman, They became Furious at me that I would "dare" to say such things to them. Threatened me with Jail, Again! Searched 3 times in a row! Shouted at, and Demeaned, and told I don't know what I'm talking about! Officer Osborne stated that he'd better not see me on my Bicycle anytime soon, and Officer Rank (on a Motorcycle) Stated that I'd better not even think about reporting this to the Police Chief or Captain or Seargent or something ( I don't remember exactly which one he said) I think It was The Seargent. Or "my life in Dublin would become a living hell" (his words). I'm going down anyway and make a complaint with my GrandDad tonight. This kind of shit Can't be Legal. Please respond if you feel this is wrong in America, "Land of the Free"????????????? Sincerely and HONESTLY! Gus, Dublin, CA 94568

Nevada is an Abusive Police State. Henderson Nevada cops are abusive and violant and cannot be trusted. Recorded Facts show Henderson cops have Beaten a 95 years old resident and spit the head open of a handycap individual in front of his wife and children. In addition, Henderson motorcycle cops issue Excessive vehicle citations for quotas. Further Henderson municipal court judges like Ken Proctor support the abuse. Las Vegas Metro Cops and North Las Vegas cops, have killed unarmed suspects for as little as shoplifting, just asking to be killed and to date have gotten away with each and every murder. Police Abuse in the US is out of control and no one is lifting a finger to stop them. The Nevada police are worst then the MP abuse's in Iraq. Nevada is a police terrorist state that supports abuse.
police protect profit not people, so shoot back!!!
I do not even have as much as a traffic ticket on my record. I have returned to school to study law. Well, I have a few friends that may not have followed the same path that I have, and one in particular I visit quite often. The last time I went to visit him, before the girl could hand the deputy my ID, he was already motioning for me to enter the office. He says to me: "when's the last time you were arrested?" I said NEVER.. he says "when's the last time you were cited?" I said NEVER..so then he informs me that that's interesting because I have a warrant for my arrest, issued 3 months ago. No way, it must be a mistake. NOPE. However, he couldn't tell me what the crime stemmed from, nor could he tell me who it was committed against. In addition to that, he had no explanation how I passed not one, but two backround checks in the recent past, as well as being able to visit my friend not only at WVDC but at Glen Helen as well. Another officer comes in, who recognizes me and says to the arresting officer "What are you doing with HER?" As if she knew there was no such warrent.he tells her, there's a warrant, she says no there's not. He says yes, there is... She looked very confused when she looked at the screen.. anyway, he searches my vehicle, comes back in, starts the paperwork, then out of the blue, starts accusing me of being high! He says come with me... So, I follow him.. He says, "this will make the difference between whether I cite you or you go home" Now, tell me about so and so..I don't know those people, sir. "come, on now.. I've been patient with you. Tell me about so and so or you are looking at a cite for under the influence" "I don't know, sir. I am not associated with those people. I do not know them. I am sorry, but I don't know about what you are asking me" He says i'm lying and so he writes me up for under the influence, and has me transported to processing after he tells me, "oh, yeah, uh.. it's a felony warrant, so either you have to post bail, or wait until the weekday to see the judge" "they won't site release on a felony". So, i go thru that humiliation, only to be miraculously released that evening OR'd. On a felony? The order to release happened suspiciously at the same hour the officer was off duty. So, now either I will go to court, or as magically as this warrant appeared it will dissappear, since I couldn't provide the info he thought I could. However, now I have this on my record, and my whole future is on the line here. If any of this sticks, I can never be a lawyer. My goal in life was to do pro bono work for abused women and children. Give someone adequate and thorogh legal assistance. For free. I can never do this if this idiot deputy's charges stick. My whole life, my children's future, all gone cause this renegade wanted some info on a person I don't even know. How does a warrant just "appear" like that? I need to get a good lawyer, and hire an investigator...

Yes, I know that police brutallity is happening here in my community and my son and I have been a target of this situation, but I have no money for an attorney, don't know who to contact about it. Please help us!!
Date:8/5/2004 Cops in Nevada, especially Henderson and Las Vegas/North Las Vegas are abusive and violant. Over the past 5 years the cops have harrassed residents and visitors, beaten the elderly and handycap, written excessive motor citations, created and advertised daily speed traps, lied in court, and killed unarmed suspects both with guns and the new taser guns, and have gotten away with it all. To date no one is lifting a finger to protect the citizens from this terrorism. A high travel warning remains in effect for all of Southern Nevada to include Henderson.
I know now that the poloce in Delrna N.J. Burlington County is Racicst, and they need to be investigated, and the also use brutality on black females.
pheonix_heart74@yahoo.com On May 14, 2004 I received a phone call from Sunnyside Elementary. The secretary told me, Jacob was being difficult. My response was What happened? She interrupted ignoring my inquiry and continued I called the cops on your son. Taken back by this I asked, Why did you call the cops on my nine year old son? She responded in a snidely tone, Because your nine year old son was being difficult! I then told her I was on my way. With the same irreverence she said, Okay. I hung up the phone and gathered my purse and keys. I arrived at Sunnyside Elementary posthaste after the phone conversation. I parked the van, got out, and hurried towards the schools front entrance. As I was making my way from the parking lot two men exited the school carrying my son one holding his shoulders and the other holding his feet. Jacob was scared, crying out I dont want to go! When Jacob noticed me he called out saying Mommy come help! I quickened my step and said to the men This is my son. expecting some sort of compliance and explanation for their action. Instead I am met with a jab to the throat, by the man who was latter identified as officer Germany, and a sharp command Step back! After this unexpected response I stepped back a little and again start to question why they had my son. I restated This is my son. My statement was met with further attacks as this man was kicking me. I held my composer in spite of the abuse and asked, What is wrong? What happened? Their response was Jacob was being difficult and we are taking him in. This answered nothing and only prompted more questions from me. I asked, What did he do? Reiteratively one commented Jacob was being difficult. Getting no real answers from these men I asked if could talk to Jacob. To which someone replied disdainfully No. During the entirety of this stonewalled conversation my son is further frighten by the circumstances and there is a continued plea from him for my help. So I pleaded on his behalf Can I at least calm him down before you take him? Since there was no reply I knelt down and placed my hands around Jacobs waist saying Jacob what did you do? At the moment of this question Jacob and I are pushed to the ground and I could hear someone saying, Dont talk to him! Let him go! Jacob cries out Mommy dont let go! as these men are pulling on him, pulling at me and prying at my fingers. I tried to speak but someone was choking me and I could feel someone wrenching my ankle while forcing my leg towards my head. Someone grabbed my right wrist and twisted my arm behind my back while someone else was beating on my left shoulder. My right wrist was then cuffed and this man squeezed the cuffs until they would not go any further cutting into my wrist. After I was half detained they started in with what seemed to be chaos. I felt the choking start again while my right arm was twisted up behind my head and my left shoulder received further blows. Jacob cried out, Please dont kill her! Somehow between the choking and the pounding on my shoulder I managed to say, I just need an opportunity to talk to my son. for which I was beaten harder. They rended my son away with no reason and aggressively twisted my left arm behind me. I then felt the metal of the cuffs crushing into my left wrist. As they dragged Jacob away I could hear him calmly say, Can I please talk to my mommy? I heard no response but Jacob cry out, Owie! Youre hurting me. I was lying drubbed and on the ground face down, but I forced my head up in spite of the pain to see what they were doing to Jacob. Just as I had sight of him I could feel my arms being force up towards my head and away from my body. My left arm started burning and my head hit the sidewalk. To keep me down someone pressed their knee into my back and they were squeezing the cuffs again even tighter than before. I heard a car door slam and then the knee was moved from my back. They plucked me up using only the cuff as they raised me to my feet. My shoulders felt as if they were going to explode. Pain was shooting down my left arm and the pain in my wrists was unbearable. As I stumbled to my feet I cried out in pain to which one of the men responded Act like a human. First I was brutalized then the perpetrators mocked my pain. After I was on my feet I asked if they would loosen the cuffs because both of my arms were throbbing in pain. I was told in a disparaging manor that I was fine and needed to calm down. I told them that my arm hurt really badly and I needed to see a doctor. For further dejection I was again told that I was fine and needed to calm down as if I were beside myself and were unable to appraise my own condition. I told them I was calm and they could let me go now. At this point they informed me that I was under arrest. I asked, Why are you arresting me? One of the men, latter identified as officer Matia, responded in the now familiar acrimony manor Well, uh, you committed a crime. I responded to his acridity with What about when a cop commits a crime? As he broke eye contact and his gaze acquiesced to the ground he said Youll have to talk to a lawyer about that. Wishing to evade further conversation he started to escort me to the car. In route I asked if I could ride with Jacob. The answer was No. When we arrived at the car I stopped and said pleadingly, He must be so scared. This man snapped in an arrogantly domineering tone Get in the car or Ill put you in the car! So I got in and he slammed the door behind me. Looking through the window he snared Now I see where your son gets it! He then turned and went to persuade the others. I witnessed his pell-mell pacing back and forth spewing Didnt she touch me? Didnt she push me? Come on guys, you saw her push me! Towards the end of this torrent with his position secured I heard him say Im gonna get her good. Im gonna get her so good. This is a mild retelling of what happened to my son (9 at the time) and myself. I have a copy of the cop car VHS recordings, which, oddly enough, Officer Matia bragged about. I remember him tapping the recorder bos in the cop car proudly while say they had it all on tape, while transporting me to jail for things I didn't do. The tape vindicates me. If you watch further, you see a 9yr. old boy (my son) get his face pressed into the concrete sidewalk, a cop put his knee in his back while handcuffing him. After all this, three cops pick up my son to put him in the cop car, they rocked him back an forth with him (9yr old) facing the ground, counted to 3 then tossed him in the car. Not even checking if he was comp;etely in the car they slammed his foot in the coor, causing the door to bounce back open. On the way to the police station my son is threatened with bodily harm. The cops had turned their mics off 3 or 4 times. Upon arrival to the police station my son is threatened with bodily harm again 3 times while entering building, his belief in God mocked, insulted, belittled, lied to, intimidated and ultimately placed in SRS custody on false accusations. There is so much in these tapes. And the only thing those 6 cops are sorry about is that thaey couldn't use their taser gun. "Taser's" was used 6 different times throughout that tape only refering to regret of the non-use, no specifications on who they would use it on, my son was a possibility as well. And as they were having these discussions, in front of my son, they were trying to figure out why they wouldn't work, pressing the buttons causing short zaps. At the end of the tape you hear one cop inquire of my charges. The second cops says, "battery on a LEO, misconduct, and obstruction". The first cop asks, "You sure your not stacking the charges?" The second cops says, "Nah, they'll peel them off later". There is some strong evidence of conspiracy here. I am married and a mother of 4 children . My family never really had a full trust in police officers anyway, but now there in none, especially in myself and my 9yr. old. This incedent has caused the little bit of hope I had for police officers to disipate into nothing.
Can any of you spell? Can any of you punctuate?
I need to know what the proceedure is if a cab has a passed out drunk in and they can't get the person to wake up, the police are called; what should the line of duty be that these police officers do?
My name is John Ulrigg and I have a horrible story to tell, The following is a true recounting of an incident that happened on july 12, 2004 A misdemeanor investigation for disturbing the peace (which I did not do) escalated into police beating me and charging me with 7 charges from disorderly conduct to 2 counts of felony assault on an officer. The officers 2 of them came to the house on a monday morning and asked me to come outside to the front of there car (for purposes of video recording of the interaction) to ask me some questions. After I told them who I was, denied doing anything to the neighbor, the officer told me "well this just proves your nothing but a god damn bully and bullies need to be delt with." I responded "thats what you think huh?" "were done" and I turned and went back to my house once inside I atempted to close the door and an officer stuck his foot in the door to stop it from closing after forcing the door open they told me (inside the house) I was under arrest so I put my hands up and said ok. I was then beaten infront of my daughters and handcuffed, so tight it cut to the bone on my wrist, also my lip was split through to my teeth from them punching me. I spent ten weeks in jail on these trumped up charges while at jail I was told (after being in handcuffs in a holding cell for 1 1/2 hours when I asked to urinate I was told "thats the breaks tough guy" several things happened to me that I think violated my civil rights....the officers did not have an arrest warrent prior to seizing me and only had the alleged victom sign a P.C. affidavite after I was taken to jail. Damn I think I have a solid case here as this officer the main one (Rossling) had been to my house 2 times prior and did not like me and told me so to my face. Oh by the way I at 40 years old I have never been in trouble in criminal court ever. But yet the state of montana had a criminal background that listed me as having 9 convictions for probation violation, but no initial charge for that put me on probation in the first place. All this can be verified by googleing my name johnnie ulrigg, Wall Street Journal (jan 20 2004)this was admitted to and corrected by a women named Stayce Dorrington the chief records clerck at the DOJ Montana. Does this sound like a section 1983 claim for excessive force? a claim against the department of justice? feel free to call me if there are any questions..... John Ulrigg 406-239-7996
july 12 2004 PART 2 Background Checks Increase, Causing Concern for Workers By KRIS MAHER Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL In the spring of 2000, Johnnie Ulrigg landed a job as a delivery driver for a department store in Missoula, Mont. He had been on the job four days when a supervisor told him that a background check had turned up a list of probation-violation convictions that hadn't been reported on his job application. Mr. Ulrigg contended there was an error and that he had never been on probation before, but he was dismissed anyway. "They said, 'You're wrong, and because you're wrong, you're done,' " Mr. Ulrigg says. Yet Stacye Dorrington, criminal records and identification supervisor for the Montana State Department of Justice, says Mr. Ulrigg was right. She says several counties in the state record a failure to pay a traffic violation as a probation violation, and that is what showed up on Mr. Ulrigg's public record. She adds that as a result of a recent policy change, the state is manually reviewing more than 140,000 records to expunge civil and traffic offenses from people's records. Mr. Ulrigg got his public record cleared of conviction references, but it took roughly two years to do so, during which time he worked only part-time jobs and he wasn't able to get the delivery job back. A recent survey by the Society for Human Resource Management, in Alexandria, Va., found that about 80% of companies performed criminal background checks on potential employees in 2003, up from 51% in 1996. Today, roughly 35% of companies perform credit checks on candidates, up from 19% in the earlier survey. A constellation of factors are driving the increased screening, says Susan Meisinger, president and CEO of the human-resources group. They include increased security fears after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, greater awareness of how often people lie on risumis and technical advances that have reduced the cost of background checks. "It's cheaper to hire somebody with a background check than it is to fire somebody," Ms. Meisinger says. As they become commonplace, background checks are stirring up worries in many employees. Tena Friery, research director at Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, a San Diego privacy-rights advocacy group, says workers should be concerned. In some cases, Ms. Friery says, government agencies have been slow to update public records to reflect when a criminal conviction has been expunged. In other cases, job seekers have had trouble obtaining a record of a check performed on them. Given the number of companies performing background checks, workers should at least be aware of their rights when it comes to such screenings. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, if a decision not to hire an applicant results from negative information found through a background check, an employer is obligated to provide the applicant with the results and an opportunity to dispute them. Many experts agree that only a fraction of background checks turn up inaccurate information that blocks a candidate's chances. But it is impossible to track how many errors occur, because candidates aren't always told why they aren't hired. James E. Lee, chief marketing officer for background-checking company ChoicePoint Inc., Alpharetta, Ga., says errors can occur when information, such as a Social Security number, is entered incorrectly into a public record, or when common names cause records to be mixed up. But errors are rare, he says. ChoicePoint performs about eight million pre-employment screenings each year, which includes background checks as well as drug tests. The company says that 0.025% of background checks result in a consumer dispute and that only 0.005% of its total searches end up requiring a correction. Meanwhile, 9% of criminal background checks turn up an undisclosed felony conviction, according to Mr. Lee. Further information on background checks and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which sets standards for employment screening, can be found at the Federal Trade Commission's Web site, at www.ftc.gov. Under the act, an employer must obtain an applicant's written authorization before conducting a background check. One of many consumer tips at www.privacyrights.org, which is the Web site of Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, is to be sure to scrutinize the fine print before signing such an authorization. If you are concerned about what might turn up in your records, consider performing a background check on yourself by hiring a company that provides checks to employers. You can also check individual records that an employer is most likely to look into. If you are applying for a job that requires driving, for example, you can request of copy of your driving record from the motor-vehicles department. Ms. Meisinger advises people to order a copy of their credit report every year. In some cases, self-checking can also eliminate a nagging uncertainty about why an employer chose someone else for a job. Martin, Tennessee Police and the Weakley County Sheriff Department (Martin is located nw of Memphis, 2 hours) are among the most racist, ignorant and abusive cops in any small town in the USA. I was stopped walking home from the library one night and 'investigated' by a local Martin pig simply because I have long hair and a beard. Knowing the law quite well, I asked this gestapo-clone what his legal justification for stopping me happened to be. He muttered something about me "looking like a suspect" to which I inquired further, "And what did this suspect do and what was his description?" He stammered and coughed up the following lie, "I can't divulge that information." I said, "you're illegally detaining me, violating my rights, yet you refuse to tell me what it is you allege I've done?" I then told this asshole that I didn't buy his "suspect" detainment bit, and I stated that he stopped me because of my appearance. I also suggested that a lawsuit might freshen his memory and reveal that he was lying. The asshole realized that I wasn't some redneck hick whom he could step on, and he packed his fat donut-ass back in his piggiemobile and left. Months later, a really FAT donut-eater pig from the WCSD followed me home with his lights flashing because I had on my bright lights. Wow--what a crime! What a punk redneck this asswipe turned out to be! Fat, stupid and ugly! I verbally abused this lardass for being such a nadering nitwit of stupidity. I asked dumbass exactly what 'crime' bright headlights happened to be, but he was too busy searching my car for something--anything to bust me with. But fatboy wasn't as sharp as he thought he was cause he missed something. Nice try fatass. I would urge all motorists to avoid Martin or Dresden TN completely. In fact, stay out of NW Tennessee totally cause it's loaded with asshole redneck pigs.
I agree that abusive police need to be reported and even prosecuted when applicable. It is absolutely true that there are some bad and really bad cops out there. As someone else has mentioned, cops are human beings too. So it seems to follow that just as some people in society are bad, some cops will be bad. I do have a very hard time though labeling an entire profession (which I researched to be over 250k officers in the US) as being "abusive", "corrupt", or anything else. That seems a whole lot like stereotyping, which we all know is really bad. (i.e. roots of racism, etc) I have personally had experience with bad cops and good cops. What I think alot of people need to do (and I have caught myself doing this when pulled over a few times) is to try to let their stereotypes and preconceived notions fall to the wayside when they encounter the police. I have had more success with police officers by speaking to them normally (no, not calling them sir or kissing their ass) than by speaking to them as "pigs", so to speak. I think the bottom line is that while we all know that there are cops out there that are bad and leave really bad, long lasting impressions, we should try to not let our past experiences define all police. Sure there are people on here who are just going to swear at me, call me names, or whatever. Maybe some of these people have had bad experience with the police because they are bad people themselves. I also recognize that it is a good thing to be able to speak about a bad experience you've had with police for a number of reasons. Well, no more soapbox.
I want as many people as possible to hear about an appalling incident that happened to me last night, involving an extremely corrupt police force - these are people who should not be police officers. First of all I want to start by saying that I have myself reported two violent crimes this year. Nothing was done about either. The first incident was particularly disturbing. Early last year my boyfriend and I made the mistake of getting into an unlicensed cab. My boyfriend was left for dead in the road and the driver attempted to make off with my bag. The only reason he threw my bag back at me was because I had memorised his registration number and I shouted it to him. We spent the night in hospital - I gave the police the registration number (I wrote it down) and yet they never once bothered to send anybody to as much as interview me. The second time I had my nose almost broken by a drunk on a late night bus. Nothing was done then either. Now I want to move on to last nights events. I live in London, UK, and I went to Hertford last night to see my boyfriends band play. As I had work the next day (Im a legal secretary) I wanted to make sure that I got back home, so we left at around 10:30 to give me good time to get the last train home. We got off the train at Seven Sisters and made our way to the tube platform. My boyfriend lit up a cigarette, which he shouldnt have done I admit. A tube driver told him off and I told him to put it out, which he did. Now that should have been the end of the matter, but about 10 police suddenly descended on us. We were told we were not allowed to board the tube and I was told to leave the station and get a bus. I did not know the area, and I did not know of any buses so I started to panic and get distressed. I asked how am I to get home - I need to get home for work and they said not our problem. They were surrounding my boyfriend and they told me to leave and I did answer back. I HAD had a few drinks - but no more than three - and I was not very aggressive or anything, just a bit mouthy. I admit I swore. The next think I had my hands cuffed behind my back very, very tight. As they walked me out, my boyfriend was also cuffed and was being lead out in front of me, the woman police officer started calling me a slag, a prostitute, a piece of scum etc etc - obviously trying to goad me. I said this was all absolutely unnecessary, but the verbal abuse was just getting worse and worse - her colleagues were joining in. She was pulling my arms right up my back and I honest to God thought that my arm was going to break. If I get a broken arm I cannot work. I pleaded with her to stop but she carried on, all the while still being verbally and unprofessionally insulting. In desperation I kicked my leg out at the back and was then told I was to be charged with assaulting a police officer - yet she assaulted me first of all. I was then pushed up against a wall. This woman was still being rough and then a male police officer, who had pulled a black jumper with The North Face on it up over his face so it covered his mouth and nose held on tight to my arm and just gave me a torrent of abuse. He was asking me if Id been out escorting tonight, again was calling me a slag and a piece of shit over and over. I told him he was unprofessional and he said what are you going to do about it you f**** whore. I asked why there were about 10 police officers standing around waiting for a van just for the two of us, and why were they not out dealing with real criminals like burglars, rapists, and murderers. He actually then said to me well you wouldnt need to worry about rape would you no-one would be wanting to rape you! and kept going on and on about it!!!!! Is it me or is that an absolutely DISGUSTING attitude for a police officer? The man should not be allowed in the police, nor should the arresting officer, the female, who alleged that I assaulted her, when I was actually acting in self-defence. They were goading me all the time. I felt that this woman was deliberately trying to break my arm. We then waited for about 10 minutes for a van and then it took about 10 officers to accompany the two of us, in a van. What an absolute waste of police resources. I was put into a cell most of the night - I waited for a solicitor to be present when I was interviewed. The solicitor told me that he had seen NUMEROUS examples of this kind of behaviour from the police. I find that very, very disturbing indeed. I had my photograph taken, DNA taken, I was fingerprinted. I was released on bail at around 5am - I was left to wander the streets, a lone female, obviously distressed and far from home, at that time. I have been charged with police assault. I am extremely worried about getting a criminal record, particularly for the crime of assaulting a police officer. I am a legal secretary - I am responsible and hard working. I cannot afford to have a blemish such as this on my character. The most I did wrong was get a bit mouthy at first, but that it because I was distressed that I couldnt get home. I did not deserve the verbal and physical abuse I received from the police. I repeat that people like this should not be in the police force in the first place. I am terrified.
I am not a fan of police, but if you are going to bitch about abuse, get your facts straight and tell the whole fucking story, not just the parts you pick. Some of the people here sound absolutely ridiculous and their stories border on fantasy, if not outright absurdity. Nobody seems to call a lawyer about anything. "I don't have money," is the lamest most bullshit excuse I have ever heard. If what some of these people report is even remotely true, tons of lawyers would JUMP at the chance to represent you. For fuck sake, they'd make a killing in lawsuit commissions! So stop with the obvious lying or "forgetting" to tell the entire story. Some police abuse their powers, oh that is so very very true. Let's hear about *real* abuse, ok? Not this crap about "he shouted at me and made me feel bad and was sarcastic." POLICE WOULD RATHER BE SLEEPING ON THE JOB OR EATING DONUTS THAN FILLING OUT TONS OF PAPERWORK TO COVER UP A TEN MAN CONSPIRACY TO MAKE YOU MISERABLE "FOR NO REASON." So save the bleeding heart bullshit. No one cares, you fucking pansies!
nobody cares until it happens to them!!It just happend to me and it was the worst experience I have ever been in even after being in the pentagon when the plane hit.I thought I was going to die.I have had faults with the law so I'm not a saint.I was beaten while having hancuffs on behind my back.I wasnt even resisting arrest.I look like I was beaten up scabs on my face and a black eye.I am not a crybaby or a pansy but nobody should be treated like that.I will be making my report.
